Amanda Alexander is a professional Coach who supports women in the UK, Europe and America to achieve much more than they thought possible.
Formerly a Project Manager in the IT industry, Amanda changed career direction after redundancy threat when she was 6 months pregnant. At a "crisis crossroads", Amanda hired a Life Coach herself to help her figure out which way to go and how on earth to get there.
"I came to coaching from being coached myself. I didn't leave my well paid career for which I'd trained for years lightly. I left because my own Life Coach at that time changed my attitude from "I can't because..." to "I can because". I am a coach because I have experienced the amazing benefits of coaching myself. I have over 400 hours and over 3 years experience of "Attitude Adjustment" (more commonly known as life coaching).
My own story is one of ups and downs, but needless to say, I am now walking my talk. I have defined and now live my own "work life balance". I live a meaningful, loving, fulfilling and fun life. It ain't perfect but it's pretty spectacular! My job is to help you to define your own near perfect life.
My passion is supporting both professional working mums and stay at home mums (SAHMs) to regain their sense of identity, increase their confidence and design lives that work for them.
Do you remember the expression "have it all" that so many of us heard back in the post "Superwoman" era of Shirley Conran? Well, now we know that we can't "have it all". But our ethos at Coaching Mums is that as a mum, you can almost have it all. So often, women lose their identity, their confidence, their direction somewhere along the joyful, worrying, mad rollercoaster ride that we call motherhood.
My mission, my passion, my "raison d'être"- call it what you will - is to help you find yourself, to achieve that magical life balance that works for you and to jolly well enjoy the magical rollercoaster ride of being a mum."
With an M.Sc. in Computation and a double honours degree in Modern Languages, Amanda values education highly, and has applied these principles to her coach training since venturing into the coaching profession in 2002. Amanda initially graduated with distinction from the Coaching Academy and has since undertaken ongoing continuous professional development.
Since 2004 Amanda has studied continuously with CoachU in their Coach Training Programme. She is a graduate of CoachU's Core Essentials course and is now undertaking the Advanced Coach Training Programme.
Amanda is accredited with the ACC designation from the ICF (International Coach Federation). This is a highly respected coaching certification that is held by very few coaches in the world. Amanda is a volunteer mentor with the Prince's Trust and has trained in a certificated programme of mentoring skills with the Women's Business Network.
Amanda features regularly in the media, and is called upon to comment on many topics ranging from work-life balance, parenting, relationships, time management, women's careers and business issues. Amanda has featured in and written for numerous and varied publications:- The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, Eve, Family Circle, Executive Woman, Weightwatchers, Prima Mother and Baby, Practical Parenting, Essentials, BBC Parenting to name but a few.
When not working, Amanda can be found salsa-ing with her husband, playing with her 4 year old son, hiking in the hills or trying out the latest adrenaline pumping sport. Or with her feet up in front of the fire, glass of wine in hand, watching the latest season of “24”.
For the first time in a long long time, I feel 100% content with my life – in all areas of my life: in my relationship with my husband, as a Mum, at work, embarking on my new career, my friends, and my family; what more could I want!

Amanda is an absolutely wonderful coach! With her support and encouragement, I began working with new coaching clients far sooner than I otherwise would have, which has had a big impact on my confidence moving forward. In addition, through our work together, I have discovered a huge amount about myself, have learnt to take the pressure off, trust myself and my intuition and enjoy the now rather than always looking to the future. I highly recommend Amanda to anyone looking to work with a coach
